Amy Dorie, Dave Loranger, and Elena Karpova earn American Collegiate Retailing Association 2017 Best Paper Award

The American Collegiate Retailing Association, or ACRA, selected three researchers from the College of Human Sciences to receive one of the 2017 awards for best paper. Amie Dorie is a Ph.D. candidate in apparel, merchandising, and design, and Elena karpova is an associate professor in apparel, events, and hospitality management. Dave Loranger graduated in 2016 from the apparel, merchandising, and design program, and he is currently an assistant professor at Philadelphia University. Their paper, titled Encore Consumption: Investigating Trends in the Apparel Expenditures of Older Consumers,as discussed their findings from their analysis of data from the U.S. Consumer Expenditures Survey between 1997 and 2014. They research examined older consumers’ apparel expenditure patterns by product categories in relation to employment status. Their paper will be featured in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, a publication that focuses on consumer behavior, policy, and managerial decisions in the fields of retailing and services studies.
