I was responsible for...
Restaurant, working POS sysytems, serving, (banquets, restaurant, buffet.) Room Service (taking calls, orders and delivering food and drinks, special requests, etc.) Conference Services (setting up, breaking down various rooms, following room layouts, setting up AM and PM food and drink hubs for various clients). Being apart of large scales events and receptions, (IDEAS Fest, Fortune 500, security forum, etc. where there is 1,000 plus guest to be catered for.
Being apart of these great events such as IDEAS Fest has been inspiring, where influential people from all over the world, (philanthropists, authors, artists, businessmen and women, musicians, etc.) come together to talk about the worlds greatest challenges and breakthroughs that affect us all. These brilliant minds sometimes have contrasting views, but that's the beauty of it- we can come together once we learn from each other.
Everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes. VIP clients are very important, but they too are only human. Don't get "rattled" by serving a notable person because in the end they are human. I've also learned how important relationships are in this industry, with co-workers, with clients, management, from department to department. Everything must have synergy to be successful. Employees must have the end goal in mind to be successful with each other.
Advice for others...
Don't stop learning. Never feel like you've learned everything about something. Never become complacent. Always strive to be the best. Your handwork, under the right management, won't go unnoticed.
