I was responsible for...
During the week, I work in the office and my work varies per day. I help with daily tasks like contacting clients, attending client meetings, inputting information, helping other departments (floral, decor, etc.), maintaining our social media pages (wedding wire, the knot, etc.) and marketing, answering phone calls, etc. Friday through Sunday I help with event set up which requires packing the truck with the ordered inventory per event, setting up the event, and tear down of the event the following morning/night.
As for social media and marketing, I've been able to call the shots all by myself which means I have physical proof of what I have done for this company social media wise. I have Facebook posts that i've come up with on my own that I can put in my portfolio. It's very rewarding to see hard work pay off when I call prospective clients and am able to book appointments and get them in the door because sometimes it leads to booking their wedding/event.
I've learned to truly take my time and be very careful with every move I make. During a tear down, I accidentally knocked over a glass vase that cost a lot of money and it shattered. After that, I learned that I would rather be slow and take my time than rush and break expensive things. When working with such fragile items there is no room for mistakes.
Advice for others...
This can be a very tiring and repetitive job at times. However, you have to remember that even though this is just another day of work for you, this is someones big day that happens once in their lifetime, so you should treat it like a big deal. The end result is so rewarding, especially when you get to see the bride/grooms' reaction to your hard work.
