Family and Consumer Sciences and Educational Studies Graduate Program

The Family and Consumer Sciences Education graduate program at Iowa State University has a long and prestigious record of success. Now, due to high enrollments and our continued resolve to offer the highest quality learning experiences, the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Leadership Academy has recently suspended admissions of new graduate students. This suspension does not apply to those students currently enrolled and those already admitted to this program for summer 2007 or fall 2007. The suspension is based on our need to provide an opportunity for currently enrolled graduate students to move expeditiously towards the completion of their programs. Faculty members are committed to giving graduate students, currently in the "pipeline," the attention and focus needed to complete their programs. In the future, as graduate students complete their programs of study, it is anticipated that the Family and Consumer Sciences Education Leadership Academy will be re-opened for the admission of new students. At this time however, a future date has not been identified.

The date for reopening this program will be based on information yielded from a variety of sources including that from a regular University program review which will be underway soon. Through this input, we will have a better understanding of appropriate program goals, the capacity of this program for student enrollments, and thus a feasible date for future new admissions.

Should you need further information, please contact the Dean's Office (515-294-7800) where you will be directed to the associate dean who is assisting with this process.
