I was responsible for...
- Put together and distribute corporate gifts - Tastings with brides and/or corporate groups - Create BEOs for various events - Create timeline and checklist forms to be filled out with Brides and then given to various departments within the resort - Stay through dinner service on social and corporate functions to ensure smooth operation and proper customer service - Arrange entertainment for weekly events and then ensure proper contracts, W9 forms, and invoices are completed and signed by each entertainer - Arrange any and all excursions for social and corporate groups - Update BEO books for all departments and communicate in order to keep each area up-to-date - Oversee all restaurant reservations - Fill out flip charts and timelines for events daily for staff to follow - Assist the General Manager with any projects he may have - Create various signs and thank you notes for social and corporate events - Update social media
My most valuable effort...
Each wedding I have worked on has been very valuable and rewarding to me. It is always fun to see the various visions and ideas that brides have and then have the ability to execute these ideas and make their important day exactly what they hoped and more!
I will never forget...
The most memorable experience that I have is working with the first outdoor wedding of the season. The couple had dreamed of being married on a bridge across our outdoor pool for over a year. The forecast for their wedding day was 100% rain showers, but the couple did not let that change their plan. The wedding still occurred outdoors across our pool in a constant downpour. This just shows how important this day is to couples and how important it is to make their dreams and visions a reality.
Advice for others...
1. BE ORGANIZED! By staying completely organized and keeping a record of every conversation and little detail it is easy to make sure that each event goes flawlessly. By being completely organized it also helps ensure that both parties are on the same page and if issues arise they can be quickly solved. 2. Set Limitations! Each customer/individual you encounter may have even bigger expectations than the last. It is important to try to make these expectations come to life, but also try to communicate with the individual about your limitations. There's a point where it becomes too expensive or impossible for you to do, so try to come up with an alternative, but never promise something you can't fulfill. 3. Communication and Teamwork are EVERYTHING. Without properly communicating to each department, various staff, and the customer your events will fall apart. Teamwork is SO important. This industry can not run on one person only. To be successful multiple people need to come together as a whole.
