I was responsible for...
During my internship at Entertainment Cruises, I work on the Odyssey II Chicago as a fFront of House intern. For 10 weeks, I am server on this dinner cruises. Different responsibilities I have each day are preparing the floor for each cruise, cleaning the bus station, serving my guests, cleaning the deck, and resetting once guests leave. Each day I have to communicate heavily will all employees on the boat in order to have a successful cruise and wow my guests with an incredible experience.

I accomplished...
One of my greatest accomplishments as a Front of House intern this summer is any time I make a guest happy with their experience on out boat. Juggling all my responsibilities can be very difficult on certain days but I always have to remember that the happiness of the guest is the most important thing. If someone leaves unhappy, they are less likely to return to us. At Entertainment Cruises, we focus on WOW moments for all guests and treat everyone like a VIP. When I execute everything correctly and all my guests from that night leave happy, I accomplished everything I should have that day.

I learned...
You cannot always make everyone happy. There are somedays that, no matter how hard I try, some guests will always be unamused. I learned to do everything I can to make guests happy but, if they will not cooperate, then there is nothing I can do. Focusing my time on guests that are pleasant is a way better use of my time than guests that can never be pleased.

Advice for others...
Working your way from the bottom, up is hard. But, I think it is what everyone in our industry needs to do. If you cannot understand how FOH and BOH work then how are you ever supposed to understand how to manage them? Working as a FOH intern taught me that I would never be able to be a manager at Entertainment Cruises without working at the bottom first. Hospitality and Events is a difficult industry to work labor in and being a manager that sympathizes with those people is very important.
