I was responsible for...
Some of the responsibilities that I have been given are to host and attend planning meetings for events, submit event requests into the ALSAC workflow system and general assistance in the planning process of events as well as assisting at many of the events.

I accomplished...
One of my greatest experiences that I have had at St. Jude has been interacting with patients. There are many events that are called "patient activities" where patients can do crafts, meet celebrities or just hang out with other patients and their families. I have had the opportunity to plan and attend many of these events which has been very rewarding.

I learned...
I expected to learn a lot about the event planning process, and by seeing multiple events from start to finish this summer I have learned a lot about events. One of the greatest lessons I have learned is how to use my skills in the nonprofit industry and help other people.

Advice for others...
My best advice would be to not be afraid to be creative. A lot of interns expect to be told what to do and how to do every task they are given, but especially in events, creativity is important and people really appreciate when you share your ideas.
