I was responsible for...
-Make outgoing emails and phone calls to various suppliers for marketing, trip planning and dinner reservation bookings and tour bookings -Update AXUS which is an online itinerary for clients to use on their phones -Arrange travel for leisure and business reasons while consulting with the owner, Kathleen Stahl for trip ideas -Use critical thinking skills to plan trips that flow smoothly together -Find potential suppliers interested in co-op marketing and follow up with them to invoice payment, collect images and send correct dates -Update website with current deals and promotions
My greatest accomplishment has been finding co-op marketing suppliers to partner with our company and pay for scrolling banner advertisements on our websites. It is extremely hard to basically ask for money from suppliers and be turned down time after time. I had to call suppliers, organize them by quarters, send invoices, collect payment and follow up with them for the images.
One of the greatest lessons learned was to learn to stay organized. I wasn't the most organized person and from day 1 of training, I learned how easily you can make a mistake just by losing an email. I also learned how important it is to think of the trip in your own way. You have to really live the trip and think about okay how are my clients going to get from the train to the hotel and what time will they get back from their tour so I can schedule a dinner reservation.
Advice for others...
Don't be afraid of challenge. At first I felt very overwhelmed because of the amount of things that they do in a small company and I felt like I would never understand any of the softwares that they use or any of the travel lingo, but if you set your mind to it and give yourself confidence, it is possible to be amazing!
