I was responsible for...
My job was to act as a Student Assistant Manager. My duties included: completing food, soda, and cash orders, handling employee scheduling issues, assist with closing and other operating procedures, collecting and reviewing employee evaluations, and handling attendance issues, as well as many others.
I will never forget...
My role has allowed me to do various projects that employees have talked about in the past, or approached our management team in person about. Having the ability to take their ideas, create solutions, and present them back the individual(s) is extremely satisfying. It's an example of when doing something small makes someone else's day better (or in this case, their work experience).
Advice for others...
My suggestion would be to do something outside of your comfort level. From my experience, you are able to gain valuable personal growth; more so than if you look for something you know you can do (perhaps because it is the same thing you do in your regular job). For me, I was initially extremely nervous stepping into the management role; however, I have enjoyed my experience and learned more than I would have if I had not taken the chance to do something outside of my comfort zone.
