I was responsible for...
I was responsible for… Working 40-50 hours a week, uploading daily social media posts, organizing 4 stores, being a sales associate, meeting sales goals, sending out an employee email every night, visual merchandising, changing mannequins, interacting with customers, welcoming people to Sandestin and making sure they are enjoying their stay.
I accomplished… Living in Florida for 10 weeks, working 6 days a week, being sales associate, surviving tropical storms. I also created a flyer for a sales event that the stores had over Father’s Day weekend.
I learned… I wasn't very familiar with southern brands before this internship, but now I know a lot more about southern fashion. Lilly Pulitzer is huge in the south so there was many bright and floral prints that I wasn't used to. Also I learned that bows can never be too big according to southern moms. I also learned a lot about golf clothing and what type of material and styles are popular for golf shirts. Because this internship was at a beach resort I also learned a lot about hospitality and how to make customers feel like they're having the best vacation while shopping.
Advice for others...
I would suggest keeping an open mind and staying positive throughout your internship. Sometimes you just really want to go home and not go above and beyond but your hard work really does pay off and other people notice too. It's very rewarding to know that I now have a really good reference for a job someday because of how hard I worked this summer. Finish strong and always put 100% effort into everything you do while interning.
