A new Product Development Technology and Testing Lab has been funded and will include an environmental room for testing products on human subjects, a sweating guarded hotplate to measure wet and dry thermal resistance, Kato’s Kawabata System to measure mechanical properties of textiles, and other textile testing equipment such as:

  • A light polarizing microscope with camera and computer interface
  • UV-related equipment for artificial aging of fabrics and assessment of UV protection
  • Human subject monitoring equipment (core temperature monitor, skin temp monitors, respiration rate monitor, heart rate monitor, and computer and receiver for wireless transmissions) needed to collect data during testing in the environmental room
